We are committed to the privacy of Second Life residences and client organizations. Data collected by Maya Realities is owned by the client and subjected to their privacy policies. Maya Realities will never distribute this data to 3rd parties.

Before Maya Realities clients receive any personally identifiable information regarding their visitorship, they must agree to deploy at a location of their choosing (preferably obvious) an informational kiosk containing their organization's privacy policy, informing visitors of the data collection, and giving visitors the chance to opt-out of personally identifiable information collection.

Here is how Maya Realities handles information about your visit to an enabled region in Second Life.

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

If you do nothing during your visit but walk around the area, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. We automatically collect and store information like the following concerning your visit.

* Your avatar name
* Your location
* Your status (active, busy, etc.)
* Your IP Address
* Public information about your account
* The date and time you access a client's area

Information That You Voluntarily Provide

If you provide us with personally identifiable information, for example by sending an e-mail or by filling out a survey, we use that information only to respond to your message and to help us provide you with the information and services that you request.

Submitting voluntary information constitutes your consent to the use of the information for the stated purpose. When a user submits information via an object or through chat anywhere on in our virtual land they are indicating voluntary consent to use of the information they submit for the stated purpose.

How Information is Used

The information we collect is used for a variety of purposes. We make every effort to disclose clearly how information is used at the point where it is collected so that our users can determine for themselves whether they wish to provide the information. Further, the information we collect helps us improve the experience you have on our virtual land.

Sharing of Information

We may share the information you give us with another organization if your inquiry relates to that organization. In other limited circumstances, we may be required by law to disclose information you submit. Before you submit personally identifiable information, such as through a feedback object, you will be advised as to the purpose and how the information will be used.

Maya Realities reserves the right to generate and publish aggregate totals of activity in Second Life for the purposes of marketing and research. No personally identifiable information will be included in such reports.

Retention of Information

We destroy the information we collect when the purpose for which it was provided has been fulfilled unless we are required to keep it longer by statute or official policy. In some cases, information submitted to us may become an official record and therefore might be subject to a Freedom of Information Act request.
